MIMA Foundation / USTA Pro Tennis Classic Fact Sheet

This premier sporting event promises 8 days of action packed women’s professional tennis. This USTA Pro Circuit tennis tournament will be held May 2-9, 2010 at Kiwi Tennis Club in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida. All proceeds of the tournament will benefit the MIMA Foundation of Brevard, Inc. The weeklong event will feature women’s professional tennis including singles and doubles with 74 matches played. Thousands of tennis enthusiasts attended the 2009 tournament, which raised $100,000 for the MIMA Foundation. Visit the MIMA Foundation Tennis Classic website for more information. 

Community Events

USTA Kids Day – Local pro’s and Tournament Players host a Kid’s Day Event featuring tennis drills, entertainment, games and prizes.  Plus a Kid’s Carnival sponsored by Beachside Toys.

School Visits – Tournament Players visit local schools to promote tennis as a part of a healthy lifestyle.

Health Awareness Day – A special event to encourage healthy and active lifestyles. Health screenings and educational materials will be offered along with a complimentary continental breakfast.  Many giveaways and prizes.

Spacecoast Tennis Ladies Day – Sponsored by the MIMA Cancer Center, this day will promote the importance of cancer screenings.  An elegant boxed lunch will be provided to the first 350 ladies that register.

Special Events

Players Party sponsored by Nance Cacciatore – Tournament Players and Sponsors will attend this fun evening event.

Quarter Finals – Free Beer for the first hour of the feature match.

Semi Finals – Cocktail Party and dinner while enjoying the fun of the semi finals.  Silent auction, lock box by Genna Jewelers and prizes.

MIMA Foundation of Brevard, Inc.

In 2001 the physician members of the MIMA multi-specialty physician group created the MIMA Foundation. This is a separate Section 501(c)(3) non profit charitable organization, signifying an ongoing commitment and concern for the community MIMA serves.

Mission:

To add to the quality of life in Brevard County by supporting health-oriented educational programs.  Our current efforts are designed to help alleviate and bring attention to the current shortage of nurses and other health care workers, which is expected to grow into a crisis in the next few years.
